The Army of the Potomac pursued John Wilkes Booth for 12 days before capturing him. Eric Rudolph, who bombed the Atlanta Women’s Clinic, eluded F.B.I. and A.T.F. forces in the mountains of Georgia for years.

I am extremely proud of our deputies, troopers, and other agencies that helped through this difficult week. Your deputies and troopers worked long intense hours to bring this to closure; many on the Sheriff’s side did eighteen hour days without complaint.

Thank them when you see them, please. Most of all, Thank you, the citizens of Rappahannock for your patience and understanding through this difficult ordeal.
