Christmas
in July
Members of the Washington Hospitality and
Visitors Association will meet today to start
planning for this year’s Christmas in Little Washington Parade.
Last year’s event was well received by town officials and residents and it was blessed with wonderful weather.
The Rappahannock County High School band was cheered loudly, the children laughed at the therapy dogs bedecked in antlers and there were bagpipes and a jovial Santa who had a friendly elf that many of you know.
Mayor Leggett was happily surprised that so many lined the streets and vice-mayor Reinhardt Lynch donned a top hat for the occasion.
Not counting on so many folks, the Washington Baptist Church ran out of Brunswick stew but several of the local Washington businesses had open houses so people had plenty to nibble on.
The area around Sunnyside Market was decorated in bright lights and greenery and children had a chance to visit with Santa and came away with not only well wishes but sweets.
We’re looking forward to another special and memorable event and we’d like to hear from you as we get the planning underway.
