One of the band groups at the Salem Pickin’ and Party got together for an unusual event at the Culpeper Nutrition site recently. They not only played for the seniors there, as they often do, but to honor one of their members, none other than John Triplett who was celebrating his 91st birthday. This time the band was playing “My Bango.” Mr. Triplett says he loves to play his banjo and he does a great job. It was about ten years ago that he founded the “John Triplett Band,” and other players joined him and for the past years they have been playing for the Salem Volunteer Fire Department.
When they have their “Singing and Pickm” parties, the band also plays at the nutrition site. Triplett owned and operated Triplett Milling Company up until about two year ago. He said that because of health reasons he knew he couldn’t go on forever, so the band name was changed to
