Sheriff’s Office and the helicopter of the Virginia State Police responded to assist in our search. As part of our initial investigation, we also had to gather every shred of information we could on our suspect. What is he likely to do next? What resources does he have? Where is he most likely to go? Who would he contact if he could? Again, resources of the V.S.P. were brought in to work with Lt. Connie Smith.
A two-man K9 team from Warren County searched the area around the house for the suspect, hoping to find him hiding in the dense brush. This was unsuccessful, and no one more disappointed than the handlers and a very tired German shepherd.
This is very rugged terrain and goes vertical quickly. The bloodhounds, when they arrived at the house, tracked north on the west side of Wolf Mountain. With units along the roadway, in the direction of suspect travel, we were hopeful of a capture.
