Tb tell the Cross family to get a permit now, after they destroyed their pets, and then advise them to get some other deer added insult to injury. Don’t these people know what pain it is to lose pets, let alone to have them destroyed for no logical reason?
Just what did the DGIF hope to accomplish with this fiasco? Why didn’t the DGIF inform the Crosses that such a permit was needed, then given ample time and an opportunity to purchase a permit. We are sure they would not have minded paying a slight penalty if such were required.
This was not a situation that merited such severe action.
Also, Deputy Becky Cooper shares some responsibility for poor judgment. She should have talked to her supervisors as well as the Crosses about obtaining such a permit.
