A political landslide ran through the streets of Sperryville on Tuesday as Eddie Wayland was elected the Piedmont District’s new representative on the Rappahannock Comity Board of Supervisors.
Wayland won nearly 58 percent of the 680 votes cast in the district to defeat Monira Rifaat and Katherine Estes Baader.
Rifaat landed 31 percent of the votes while Estes Baader took in 11 percent.
Nearly 68 percent of the registered voters in the district voted in the race.
