ms week l was looking at the web sites of various cell phone companies trying to find some carrier who could give me a signal at my house. If you were to overlay the maps of Sprint, Nextel, Cingular, and Verizon they would all look roughly the same. In the middle of a contiguous blanket of coverage that thoroughly covers our neighboring counties there is a giant hole roughly shaped like Rappahannock County. It looks like one of those satellite photos they show of North Korea at night—and island of dark and despair surrounded by modernity.
