At tne possmie expense oi being too personal, I will use myself as an example. I am retired and living on a primarily fixed income. My retirement increased about 2 or 3 percent last year. Inflation hasn’t been too bad, the economy is getting a bit better, and what I want to know is what justifies a 33 percent increase in county real estate taxes? When the new assessments came out, we were told, once again, don’t get yourself in a tither, we will adjust the rate. So much for that. It is time to shine a bright light on this process, and see how it works, or fails to work.
Maybe, instead of involvement, we need commitment. You know, of course, the difference between involvement and commitment. It is analogous to a ham and eggs breakfast: the hen was involved, the pig was committed. -
