venturing into the rarest in early December, in boots, gloves and hats to cut greenery is not for the fainthearted, and eight hours of work standing over the cutting tables in the foe hall is not easy either. But membership in the club requires that all members work at least one day on cutting and two days in the fire hall, and new members are duly reminded that this participation is a requirement of membership. But most do not need reminding of this annual chore, in fact, they look forward to the few days of camaraderie and fun, with teasing, jokes, and good natured arguing over holiday tunes. There is the wonderful feeling of accomplishment when all ‘the orders are finally filled, and all the buyers have oohed and aahed over the finished products.
The Garden Club has used the making of holiday wreaths, swags, and centerpieces as a fund-raiser for 54 years now, * with no end in sight.

This year’s offerings of wreaths, centerpieces, mantle piece decoration, and newly added kissing ball will be on display at the following locations: wreaths are at Rappahannock National Bank lobby on Rt 211 and Ray’s Deli in Sperryville; the garland with mantle decoration is at Gadino Cellars on Schoolhouse Road; centerpieces are at the Rappahannock library, BB&T Bank in Flint Hill and the Rappahannock News office on Main Street in Washington.
