Do you ever wonder what your woodlands will look like to your grandchildren -or to the heirs of your heirs? Would you like your woodlands to be part of a “big picture” instead of a small snapshot? The forest land of our area continues to be eroded by the parcelization of our land base. The combined forces of rapid conversion of forest and farm land to development; escalating land values, and an aging forest landowner are bringing about major shifts in our area that have implications on the quality of life and the economy. If you are concerned, an upcoming seminar may be able to answer some of your questions.
The National Woodland Owners Association; Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the Virginia Department of Forestry will be hosting a “Forestry Hot Tbpics” seminar with Thom J. McEvoy to address these, and other issues. The event will be held at Graves Mountain Lodge in Madison County on Friday, November 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and includes lunch. The cost is $5.00 per person, and pre-registration is required, as seating is limited.
