in May after the death of former Piedmont District Supervisor and Board Chairman Charles K. “Pete” Estes.
Estes was a county icon who served on the board for 25 years.
“It’s a big seat to fill and I don’t know I can do that, but I will work hard at doing the best I can,” Wayland said. “I know I can’t fill Pete’s seat, but I’ll do my best to fill my seat.”
Now that Wayland is through campaigning, he is looking forward to getting up to speed on the many issues facing the Board of Supervisors.
“I’m going to go in and see what’s on the agenda and work hard to be prepared for the first meeting in December,” he said.
Like the other four seats on the Board of Supervisors, Wayland’s term expires in November 2007.
