Fauquier Garden Club
The Francis Fauquier Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas tour of homes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. Four homes are on the tour, which benefits the club's high school scholarship program and community beautification projects. Advance tickets are $15 and may be purchased at G Whillikers Toys, at Designs by Theresa, or at the Town Duck. On the day of the event tickets are $20, or $5 for each home. An essay contest entitled, “Dr. King’s Dream: What I will do to keep the dream alive” is open to students in grades 5th & 6th, 7th - 9th, and 10th - 12th in Rappahannock County schools, public and private. The essay contest is sponsored by the Julia E. Boddie scholarship committee marking the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The deadline for submissions is December 11. Submissions should include the student s name, home mailing address, telephone, email address, age, grade, school name, parent/guardian’s name, and an essay of no more than 300 words (2 typed pages, double-spaced).
