Chester Gap Columnist Chris Ubben was happy that he’d never see another apple again. He and members of the Chester Gap Fire Department just finished with their batch of apfile butter. Wednesday morning’s dark and drizzly weather was depressing for lots of Republicans and delightful for many Democrats. There’s been a shift and it didn’t take long for the fall out. Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced his resignation on Wednesday Will reform be forthcoming? At this writing, the Webb/Allen contest has still not been decided. What Senator Allen figured would be a cake walk several weeks ago has turned into a cliff hanger. The last few weeks have been grueling for everybody - politicians and politician watchers alike. Time to move on. Eddie Wayland took the Piedmont District position for the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors. Republican Eric Cantor has maintained his position in the 7th. District. The marriage amendment passed. We’re about to move into the Thanksgiving season and for most of us, we’re all thankful that this midseason election is over...or almost over anyway.
