There are other members and folks from the community who deserve to be recognized too. Thank you to Nora Sealock and Mary Williams who came and helped to peel and chop up apples with us; and, too, James Mahoney for helping to get us started Wednesday morning and for lending his experience too. From within the department Chief Todd Brown, Treasurer Maybelle Gilkey, and Secretary Stephanie i Crawford along with Asst. Chief Ricky Fogle and member Sam Tinsman all pitched in one way or another and were a huge help. Also thank you Stephanie and Maybelle and Tabitha for all of the trips to town and Winchester looking for, and picking up, spices and sugar! Life Member Leo Williams also came out and was a huge help with the stirring which never seems to end. I won’t be any kind of a man though if I didn’t point out the huge sacrifices though made by three very determined and hardworking members and one young man from the community who came out every single night, worked until the end each night, and stayed till the very end when we cooked as well. These four were at times the only ones there along with one other member cooking and stirring for hours on end. I don’t want to take anything away from the help everyone else gave in anyway as it was greatly appreciated. It’s just that these four folks really went the extra mile and deserve a little extra recognition for their hard work and effort. Who are these determined souls you ask? Well, they are vice president of the department Brandon Phillips, Fire Lt. Adam Moore, E.M.S. Captain Tabitha Swain and Mr. Travis Hilly. These four were there for it all and came back for more and in my book truly deserve a huge thank you!
