By the time you read this, the big election of’06 will be history, unless, of course, we have, another ‘hanging chad’ debate. Some of you have invested a lot of time and emotion into the process, and I hope things turned out the way you wanted. If they didn’t, remember the philosophy that says, “Even though it may not be apparent to you now, the world is probably unfolding as it should.”
Now, let us turn the pages back a few months to the real estate property taxes, and the budget meetings that we all enjoyed. If you will remember, the 2 percent Robin Hood tax was defeated rather soundly. One of our astute county observers pointed out that when that part of the budget meeting was over, the court house pretty well cleared out, and the meeting went on and most of the other provisions of the proposed budget were approved.
