commissioner uavia Ekem said during a teleconference Nov. 2 that the consolidation plan will save the department up to $6 million.
The department estimates that between 40 and 50 employees statewide will lose their jobs as a result of consolidation, but none of those losses will occur in Rappahannock County.
VDOT has scheduled public information meetings throughout the Commonwealth on the consolidation plan.
The Culpeper District meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. l\iesday at the VDOT District Auditorium, 1601 Orange Road in Culpeper.
The meeting will give local citizens and elected officials a chance to offer feedback to VDOT officials before the consolidation plan is finalized in mid-December.
