The medical billing system can sometimes be complicated and confusing, but Amanda Sturgeon has it all under control. As the director of Patient Accounts, Amanda oversees the department responsible for billing, collections, cashiering and financial assistance. Amanda's staff makes sure the patients are charged correctly and helps them decipher their bills. "Of the many thousands of bills we send out each month," Amanda says, "we have very few problems, but we’re here to assist those who need help, and those who cannot afford to pay." Amanda loves her job because of the people and the challenge. "I have a wonderful staff and I appreciate them for the knowledge they possess and their willingness to make contributions to the mission of the health system We re not involved directly in patient care, but we help make Fauquier Hospital a better place for the community "
