Did you get out this past weekend and see all the happy visitors who were visiting our studios and galleries. ..and buying art? Did you see the satisfied looks on the faces of those who ate at our restaurants and at the Sperryville Food Court? Soon the Commissioner of Revenue will be happy when the tax coffers reap the benefits of the art tour. This weekend the county was visited by people from places such as New Jersey, Hanover, Virginia, Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs, to name a few. Just as the Inn has spawned the growth of excellent restaurants (for example, Four and Twenty Blackbirds) in the County, the Art Tour has the potential to be the catalyst to launch a discussion of tourism as a viable, respected source of income, other than real estate taxes, for Rappahannock County.
