Next Step: the Rappahannock College and Career Access Program is sponsoring its first Annual Barbecue Benefit, to take place on Saturday, November 25, at • ' Rappahannock County Elementary School from 11 a.m. * until 2 p.m.
The cost of admission includes a barbecue lunch and live music featuring Bob Chappell and Friends, the Bobby Glasker Band, and Tbm Guidice and Linda Orfila. Two exciting raffle items will be 100 gallons of 87 Octane „ Gasoline from Settle’s Garage, and a framed “Geneva . Welch" print (this raffle is exclusive for RCHS Alumni). Next Step, a partnership between Headwaters and Rappahannock County Public Schools, was started in ~ January 2005 with a grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and now needs community support to continue.
Working collaboratively with the RCHS Guidance . Department, administration, community members and' ;' families, Next Step helps students create and carry out the '' college, vocational or career plan that is right for them. * ’
Last year, Next Step Advisor Miranda Hope and ; ’ : College Guide Lauren Ross held over 700 meetings with; ’* students and their families, led a week-long College i' Success summer program, and organized trips to dozens of 'l' colleges, universities, and vocational programs, both with-. 3 in Virginia and f>Upwh<>n>
