In 20011 was felling trees on my farm when one fell on top of me and broke my jaw on both sides of my face. It was below freezing and I was all alone miles away from any hospital. I of course had no cell phone signal to call for help. Fortunately my truck was not too far away. I crawled to my truck and drove myself to my house and lay on the floor in agony for hours trying to decide whether to call the ambulance or drive to the hospital. Had I not been wearing a safety helmet I might have died right there. As I write this I wonder how many other anguished people have had a traffic accident, run into a deer, or worried as their car broke down with a car full of crying infants and been unable to call for help in the dark and freezing night.
