Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr.'s district representative, Jane Clatterbuck, will make her monthly visit to Rappahannock County on Wednesday, , April 12. She will be at the courthouse from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and residents are invited to stop by and offer their comments or concerns about matters pending before the U.S. Congress. Johnson, owner of Riverside Auto on Route 1002 in Sperryville, will accept used motor oil. The Commonwealth of Virginia has been encouraging the recycling of used oil as an alternative to traditional methods of disposal, which all too often included dumping it on the ground where it pollutes streams and groundwater.
Burning ban in effect
Forest Warden Tippy Jenkins reminds residents that, as of March 1, the state's burning law went into effect.
