Winning pitcher Doug Smith struck out the next batter. The next Strasburg hitter, Jeff Holsinger, flew out to John Brown but the runner on third tagged up and scored. When Roller tried to advance from second to third Brown gunned him down for the final out of the game.

Coach Leake was also pleased with the pitching from Smith. “Doug went all seven innings which is a very good sign. He’s a big, strong kid and has the potential to be the best pitcher in the district.
