Philip Daczewitz wasted little time breaking in his new baseball bat last Tuesday.
Rappahannock’s junior first baseman got the bat on March 28 and before it was 24 hours old, he used it for two home runs, four RBI’s, and was three-for-three for the day. Daczewitz’s hitting heroics paved the way for the Panther’s season-opening victory against the Strasburg Rams, 7-4.
Coach Gary , Leake was a happy man following the Bull Run District opener. “Overall, to be our first game after only a few outside practices, on the road against one of the top teams in the district, this is an outstanding victory for us,” Coach Leake said afterward.
Daczewitz’s first homer came in the opening inning. With two outs Rams pitcher Danny Albert walked Doug Smith. Next up, Daczewitz
