GYPSY MOTH COUNTY

COORDINATOR

The County of Rappahannock is seeking qualified applicants for the temporary. part-( 1 2)time position of Gypsy Moth Coordinator. The Gypsy Moth Coordinator will direct and coordinate all gypsy moth activities in the County including information distribution, population suppression, etc.

The work involves collecting gypsy moth population data on a predetermined grid including; egg mass sampiing, adult male trapping and forest site data collection. The Coordinator will usually be working alone and will be expected to meet sampling deadlines. The Coordinator will be familiarized with the gypsy moth program and trained in sampling techniques, map reading, record keeping and other administrative matters prior to starting the actual work.

In addition, the Coordinator will participate with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in any subsequent decision-making and intervention activities associated with the Appalachian integrated Pest Management Gypsy Moth Project (AIPM). This may include determining areas for intervention treatments, aerial/ground application of pesticides, and the application of luretape for mating disruption. The Coordinator will arrange for, and participate in, public meetings, as necessary, too keep the public informed of project activities. The Coordinator will act as liaison between VDACS and the County Administrator.
