School Board Chairman Beverly Massie noted that the budget would be presented to the Board of Supervisors with a preamble giving the priorities of instruction, salaries and fringe benefits. “When the Board of Supervisors thinks about it, if they’re giving 100 percent to county employees, they’ll go along with 70 percent for school employees,”’ she said.
The job of putting the budgeted amounts into the new budget categories was left for the School Board office staff, with the School Board members receiving copies once the work was done.
With the work on the budget completed, the board went into executive session to discuss the purchase of land for a middle school. No action was taken.
