The Board of Supervisors got a first look at the county’s budget for the coming year at its regular monthly meeting Monday, but many numbers were not yet available.
The county has not yet received notice from the State Compensation Board on approved salaries for Constitutional officers, and much of the budget is dependent on these figures.
The Board did find out that County Administrator John McCarthy is recommending five percent raises for those cdunty employees who aren’t covered by salary scales set in Richmond. One exception is landfill operator Harold Artz, whose salary Mr. McCarthy recommended be raised to a $17,000 base, and then a $500 raise applied to that.
Included in the budget is $155,000 for the jail addition, and $10,000 for a dog pound.
