The supervisors next looked at the completed plans for the jail addition. The plans call for two 10-foot by seven-foot cells and one much smaller drunk tank on the lowest level, office space on the second level and the kitchen on the third floor.
The estimated cost is $150,000. Half will be reimbursed by the state, but not until July 1990, the supervisors learned. The motion by Piedmont District Supervisor Charles K. “Pete” Estes to approve the plans and submit them to Richmond passed unanimously.
Next the supervisors took up the issue of whether to make an adjustment to the line that separates the town from the county.
