Washington’s Architectural Review Board wants an opinion from its consulting architect before it approves the county’s plans for an addition to the jail.
That’s what Board Chairman Carol Miller told County Administrator John McCarthy after the ARB reviewed the architect’s drawings for the addition. Mrs. Miller said the plans w'ould be sent to Whayne Haffler, an architect and Flint Hill resident who has consulted for the board on other projects, most recently The Meadows addition.
“We’d like to have it resolved soon,” Mr. McCarthy told the ARB members at their meeting April 28. “It is an integral part of the county’s budget process.”
Though the county does not expect to begin construction immediately, he explained, if the ARB finds the plans unacceptable then the projected costs for construction could be reduced or eliminated from next year’s budget, which is
