Moreover, your article also makes the proposed swap look better than I think it is. The Town, you say, will use the money it would receive from the sale of the Town Hall to offset the higher price it would pay for the library building. But the fact is that the town would have to dig into its own pockets for $50,000 that I don’t believe it has in order to gain a building for which it has no discernible need.
Worse still, if its Town Hall is really worth $100,000, the town would forgo any of the other things that $100,000 would buy. In any case, the notion of the Town of Washington owning a (office?) building worth $200,000 strikes me as a little absurd.
