a repeat performance on the f aleons’ home field. In between the Panthers dropped two more home games: to the Strasburg Rams, 17-10, and to the Manassas Park Cougars, 25-5.
In all four games RCHS fell behind early and allowed frustration to prevent them from coming back. Against Strasburg on April 26 Rappahannock was down 7-0 after one inning. RCHS fought back 7-6 but eight errors and eight strikeouts proved too much for them to overcome in the 17-10 loss.
On April 27 the Lady Panthers beat themselves again with 12 errors and gave up 10 runs in the sixth inning when the game was called. Going into the contest the two teams were tied for fourth place with a 4-5 record.
But this is a team that never gives up and according to Coach Leake, “No matter how behind we are, I know these girls will give 100 percent." Coach Leake looks to the upcoming games this week to tell the story on the Panthers’ future. On May 3 they travel to George Mason and on May 5 they take on Clarke County. In between they may host Page County in a rescheduled contest which was rained out on May 1.
