Wakefield School founder Dr. William E. Lynn, Jr. has been honored posthumously by the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Dr. Lynn, who was a teacher as well as administrator at the school he founded in Huntly, was given the Outstanding American History Award. He died suddenly last August at the age of 4(^.
Dr. Lynn was nominated by his colleagues as one who brought history to life and promoted and encouraged a sense of patriotism and pride in our nation and for the freedom “American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes for.” Dr. Lynn has also been nominated by the Culpeper Minutemen DAR Chapter for both state and national awards.
Pam Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Miller of Front Royal, was one of four outstanding high school students presented the Good Citizens Award recently by the Culpeper Minutemen Chapter of the National Society of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Miss Miller is a senior at Wakefield.
Nominees for the award were selected by the faculty and student body of each school on the basis of such qualities as patriotism, grades, school activities and obedience to laws.
