Freeman was hit by one large caliber bullet, which went through his arm and lodged against a rib, Woodward reported.
Freeman was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital, where the bullet was removed Monday afternoon. A hospital spokesman said he was in good condition after the operation.
Sheriff Woodward said the disturbance was first reported at 11:26 p.m. Saturday. According to witnesses, he said, one man reacted to the expanding disturbance over the fight by going outside to get a gun.
When the bouncers saw the man returning with a gun in his hand they closed and locked the door. Woodward said.
