Admittedly, Rappahannock, which has a tradition of supporting Democrats in state races (the only Democratic nominee for Governor that has not carried Rappahannock was Wilder in 1989; even the liberal Henry Howell carried the county over Dalton in 1977), is becoming increasingly Republican, as is most of Northern Virginia.
