Come and celebrate! Children’s book week is Nov. 16-22. In celebration of the event, the Rappahannock County Library has purchased many new children’s books, will hold a preschool story hour, will showcase the new bulletin board, and will have a fine free week.
The new books include several new books for the holidays. Ghosts, goblins, and pumpkins are featured in “Boo! It’s Halloween,” “Oliver and Amanda’s Halloween,” and “The Ghost Family Meets Its Match.” Chris Van Allsburg’s moody and memorable illustrations insure that his tale of “The Widow’s Broom” will not be easily forgotten.
Tomie de Paola celebates Christmas with “Jingle, the Christmas Clown." Steven Kellogg takes a different approach with “The Christmas Witch” which proves you are what you eat. Gary Paulsen shows that Christmas miracles can happen in “Christmas Sonata.”
Sports enthusiasts will enjoy “The Kid Can’t Miss,” “Baseball’s Greatest Pitchers,” and “Jason and the Baseball Bear.”
Everyone who enjoyed “Where the Red Fern Grows” will love “Summer of the Monkeys” by Wilson Rawls. Animals are the stars of
