Mrs. Frye said most of her window business so far is people having curtains cut down to fit smaller windows. She has had a few orders for dresses, but most of her clothes sewing is people having old clothes repaired. “Rappahannock people are not going to buy anything new unless they have to,” she said. “That's verysmart.”
Last week she was sewing up a storm, trying to get a large selection ready for the open house. She has sets of placemats with napkins tucked into a pocket on the placemat. She has pillows in fabrics with Redskins, wildlife, hunt country, and Christmas patterns. And she has the blanket throws, a blanket sewn between two layers of printed fabric. “I can make it as large as a king-sized bed,” she said. However, her most popular size is the TV wrap. “You wrap up in it to watch TV,” she said. “Then when you don’t need it, you throw it on the back of the sofa, and it looks nice.”
Her Open House will be from 11 * a.m. to 5 p.m. in her house in Woodville next door to Burke’s Grocery Saturday and Sunday. She is planning to have other crafters showing their work also. Teddy Pellegatta will be selling protographs of local scenes. Plans for other crafters were not definite last week.
