Seaman Butler

Navy Seaman Mark R. Butler, son of Douglas M. and Winifred P. Butler of Sperryville recently deployed aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Guam, homeported in Norfolk for six months to the Mediterranean Sea.
The USS Guam Amphibious Ready Group is composed of five ships: USS Guam, USS Austin, USS Gunston Hall, USS Sumter, and USS LaMoure County. The ARG, orginally scheduled to deploy November 16, departed early to ensure the continued presence of an amphibious ready group in the Mediterranean.
Butler is a 1989 graduate of Rappahannock High School.
