John Trott was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, Va., the Virginia Native Plant Society, the Carolina Bird Club, the Audubon Naturalist Society and the National Audubon Society.
He was bom July 20, 1927, in New London, N.C., and earned bachelor’s and master's degrees in botany and education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to his wife, Trott is survived by a sister, Sue Trott Parker of New London, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, Va. The Rev. Jennings Hobson will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to one's own favorite charity.
