RN: "Introduce yourself to our readers. Where did you grow up, how did you become interested in ceramics, where did you learn your art?"
SZ: "My father was in the service and my family traveled all over the world up 'til the early 80's at which point we located in Virginia just outside of DC where I finished up my high school education. I went to college at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg got a studio art degree. I worked under the supervision of Lorene Nickel who is a world-renowned ceramist and head ceramics professor at Mary Washington. I also studied photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles - it was a very comprehensive program. After graduation I went into the regular work force - forsook my love of the arts for a real job as a sales manager at Airlie. About 18 months ago I decided to get back into doing the potting full time and open a studio in Warrenton. Until opening this gallery, I entered my work in art exhibits and high-end shows."
