Trail ride and picnic
A family trail ride and picnic will be held Sept. 30 at Lizzard Run Farm in Flint Hill to benefit the Front Royal Oratorio Society. There will be two rides to choose from. The picnic will be held following the trail ride. All are welcome.
Reservations required for meal count, picnic price is $15. For either ride, $30 per rider which includes picnic. Please feel free to bring your own food and drink to share or devour as you see fit. Contact Kell Achenback at 675-3095.
Crafters sought for festival
The Sperryville Fire Department Auxiliary is looking for craft vendors for their fall festival on Oct. 14. Anyone who would like to participate should call Diane Weakley at 987-8275. There will also be a quilt contest as well as a pumpkin and apple pie contest. Anyone wishing to enter their homemade quilt or pie should call Marsha Thompson at 987-8530. Pickin' party scheduled
There will be a 4-H pickin' party at Hackley’s Country Store in Amissville on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 2-4 p.m. Bring your instrument, singing voice and lawn chair for an afternoon of down home fun. Rappahannock 4-H will be selling raffle tickets for a 50/50 raffle and scarecrows and milk jug skeletons to welcome the fall season. Band Boosters to meet
The Rappahannock County Band Boosters will meet Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Rappahannock County High School in the new Band Room. Discussions will include the Spring Band Trip, upcoming fruit sales, etc. Everyone is invited. Call Ginger Estes at 675-3464 or John Wiese at 937-9909.
Barbecue fundraiser slated
Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will hold its regular barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. Menu will consist of barbecue chicken dinner which includes one-half chicken, coleslaw, baked beans and a roll for $7. Or get a pork sandwich, coleslaw and baked beans for $5. Drinks will be available for 50 cents. Arrangements may be made for delivering larger orders. Call 937-7717.
Aerobic classes underway
On-going aerobic classes are held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:15 to 9:30. A total body workout which includes 30 minutes of low-impact aerobics, floor work, weights and yoga stretches. For information call Beth Levick at 635-6149.
Flower show scheduled
A flower show will be presented by the Culpeper Garden Club at the Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community on Route 15 south. The show, "250 Years and Growing" will be open to the public, free of charge on Friday, Sept. 22 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to the usual horticulture and design divisions, a division of special exhibits will include those by residents of the Baptist Retirement Community.
