John Trott's death last
week was truly a great loss for the county and for all of us who valued John's knowledge and love of nature. Without doubt, his column was the thing I looked forward to the most every week in the Rappahannock News.
Although I didn't know him well, I always enjoyed our conversations about nature and always learned something new from them. John was a kind, gentle, intelligent man with a lively curiosity and a deep wealth of knowledge about the wild things in Rappahannock and beyond the county boundaries.
