Last Tuesday the * entire Rappahannock County Elementary School student body and staff gathered in the auditorium for a much deserved celebration. Mr. Tom Waskom was visiting from our state capital to make a special presentation to the school.

His mission was to congratulate the students and staff of RCES for meeting their accreditation standards seven years early! Mr. Waskom, the Assistant to the Virginia Secretary of Education, brought an official declaration of achievement from Governor Gilmore and presented it to Principal Raye Tupper.

She happily accepted it on behalf of the elementary school community.

Mr. Waskom commended students, staff and a supportive community for their combined efforts. In order to achieve state accreditation at least 70 percent of students must pass the stringent Virginia SOL tests.
