Janie Burke

Mrs. Janie Evans Burke, 100, of Culpeper died Wednesday, April 11 at the Culpeper Health Care Center.

She was born April 5, 1901, a daughter of the late Joseph Evans and Elizabeth Pullen Burke. Her husband was the late Guy G. Burke.

Mrs. Burke served as a Justice of the Peace for Rappahannock County and managed the jail with her husband from 1940 until 1963.

Mrs. Burke was the oldest living member of the Washington Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Trenton Burke and his wife, Margaret of Culpeper; two grandsons, Richard Burke and David Burke and three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jessica Burke and Sara Swallow.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 14 at Clore-English Funeral ; Home by the Rev. Phillip < Bailey and Rev. John K. ! Burke. '
