Rappahannock Schools have
continued to struggle to attract and retain excellent teachers from a dwindling pool of teachers willing to work for starting salaries that not only place Rappahannock 81st out of 135 school divisions, but are also well below those in competing northern and eastern communities. The school budget for 2001-2002 includes an increase of six percent for teacher salaries.
The budgeted increase for other employees is generally four percent, and administrators will receive a 3.2 percent salary increase.
Our schools have taken on the challenges of Virginia’s Standards of Learning and *. annual SOL tests and the stiffer Standards of Quality and Accreditation. RCES is in the top quarter of Virginia’s schools by meeting the Commonwealth’s accreditation targets seven years ahead of schedule.
