“So I taught. I was about 15 years old.”
Chadsey recalled that her friends thought she was a little weird at first, but then they all wanted to get out of Sunday school to go to her classes.
But practicing and teaching spiritual wellness was not the 54-year-old’s first major career. After graduating from Lynchburg College in 1969, the math and physics major took a coveted position at NASA during its launching heyday.
She found herself working on the Viking Project.
“I went from being in the middle of these incredible projects, being on a team and the excitement and awe of it all, to being abruptly let go after NASA’s budget was cut in early 1970s,” the deacon said. “It was a very odd time in my life.”
