In his second match, he faced off with Chris Carbine the third seed out of Delaware, and Conner was no kinder to his opponent. He hunted Chris from the opening whistle. Conner was leading by a score of 71, before pinning Carbine in the second period.

For his third match Conner met up with Eric Flipowicz, the top seeded wrestler from Maryland, in the Semi-Finals. Both boys were evenly matched in skills and looked tentative from the opening whistle. The first period ended 0-0 with neither grappler able to score points.

Eric scored on a take down in the second period to take a 2-0 lead, but Conner quickly countered with a reversal to tie the score 2-2. In the end of the second period Eric scored a take down to run the score to 4-2.

Conner worked hard throughout the third period and as the clock ran to zero, Conner hit a reversal, but it was one second too late. Conner was disappointed as he looked at the score board and saw the 4-2 score in favor of Eric Flipowicz. Eric went on to win the Regional Tournament.

Conner then moved into the Consolation Bracket. Conner’s determination soared as he had to win his next match in order to achieve his goal of reaching the Eastern Nationals. Conner faced off with Rob Jillar, the top seeded wrestler from Delaware. Again Conner faced a wrestler of equal skill and determination.

Jillar scored the first take down to take a 2-0 lead. Conner then tied the score with a reversal. Then Conner scored on a take down at the beginning of the second period to lead by a score of 4-2. The second period ended with the score unchanged. Entering the third period, Rob was in the down position.

All Conner had to do was ride out the final minute
