One intermediate-level WCDS team also participated in the tournament. This team’s members, Nicole Fegeas, Michelle Fegeas, and Stephanie Warner of Warrenton, Saawan Mehta of Luray, Devin Sherwood and Ben Luke of Washington and Brittany Mountjoy of Amissville, tackled the “Anonymously Yours Challenge”.
This problem involved selecting an anonymous work of art and creating a performance about the anonymous artist and the artwork’s creation. The team selected the “Cippus of Cominia TVche”, a Roman grave altar made circa 90-100 A.D. and which now resides in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. The “Anonymously Yours” team’s efforts resulted in a third place finish and a trophy for the school.
The top teams at the Northwest Virginia DI Tbumament now move on to the State Tournament. This will be held April 28 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. While none of the WCDS teams qualified for this year’s State Tournament, this remains a goal for next year’s WCDS teams.
The Destination Imagination Global Tbumament will be held May 23-27 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
