Weather continued to mess with the schedule and spring sports as baseball and softball teams both lost games due to rain and wet fields. Home and away games with the Brentsville Tigers had to rescheduled for Monday, May 14. Both ball teams did see action however, and the Junior Varsity baseball team traveled to Strasburg on Saturday, April 14 to play against the JV Rams rather than reschedule their home game with the boys from the valley.
Track was inactive last week and had no meets, but the teams were busy practicing in and around the high school.
The soccer teams saw action last week but it didn’t all go our way.
Baseball
The Varsity team was in action, again on the road, against the Rams of Strasburg High School. On Tuesday, April 10 the Panthers played the second place Rams in a 7p.m. day/night game.
Junior, Chris Brown started on the mound for the Panthers and seemed to be holding his own until late in the second inning..With two outs and no score in the bottom of the second, the Panther defense committed three infield errors in a row that led . to six unearned runs for the Strasburg nine.
Senior, Mark Wharton relieved Brown to end the inning, but the damage was done. Wharton was hit hard in the third and was relieved by junior, Jamie Keys, who followed with a good inning and one half on the slab. But the damage had been done and by
