PTO dinner scheduled

The April RCES PTO dinner meeting will be held Friday, April 27 in the RCES cafeteria. Pot luck dinner will be at 6 p.m.and the meeting at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Child care is provided during the meeting. Please come and join this energetic group of parents for a fun and productive evening.

This weekend at Blue Moon

Breathing Room will be performing on Friday, April 20 at Blue Moon Cafe just west of Sperryville. Bobby Glasker and The Blues Hawks will perform on Saturday, April 21.

Kids ’ trout fishing day set

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Warren County and the Northern Shenandoah Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, are co-sponsoring the fourth annual Kids’ Trout Fishing Day on Saturday, April 28. This event will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Happy Creek in Warren County Municipal Park near Bing Crosby Stadium.

Children, ages two to 15 are invited to participate and must be accompanied by a parent or adult. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, thanks to donors, but each child must be signed in at the registration table to be eligible to win these prizes. Children should bring their own rods and lures. For more information call 631 -9476.

Commission seeks input

A representative of the Rural Virginia Prosperity Commission will conduct a focus group meeting followed by a penod for public comment April 23 to solicit input from citizens concerning potential state policies to foster economic growth in rural areas.

The focus group session will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. for selected organizations in the Culpeper County Public Library at 271 Southgate Shopping Center on US Route 29 in Culpeper. It will be followed by a public meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. in the same location. For more information call 540-231-5863.

Disability Services Board to meet

The next meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board will be Thursday, April 19 at 10 a.m. to be held at the Madison County Social Services Building, 101 South Main Street, Madison.

The Rappahannook-Rapidan Disability Services Board serves physically and sensory disabled citizens from Rappahannock, Madison and Orange counties. For information call Karen Henderson-Taubenberger at 829-7450.

Sperryville plans carnival

The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held June 6-9. The parade will be held Thursday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in participating should contact Greg Williams at 675-2530.
