three hits. But execution on defense and offense cost the JV squad as well. Committing three miscues on fly balls and allowing the Strasburg team to get two easy run-down outs during some base running confusion, was all it took to take the Panthers out of the game.

Starks and freshman,Josh Werner combined to strike out 10 Rams and only gave up five hits. Unfortunately, the Strasburg JV squad had no errors and was able to close out the game by striking out the last Panther batter with runners on second and third in the last inning.

It was a tough loss for the JV side as they were evenly matched across the board and played well except for the three errors on fly balls.

Sophomore Mike Cannon also homered as the DH for the Rapp side. The mental mistakes on the base paths could be attributed to inexperience and lack of playing.

As JV Head Coach Mike Tupper said, “It was a tough loss and we certainly could have beaten them. We’ve only played one game so far because of all the rain and we were pretty rusty. Even though we lost the game, it was important to get it in. We needed the playing time.”
