Insect solutions
The worst enemies of gourds are aphids, cucumber beetles and squash bugs. Controlling these insect pests should start as soon as gourd plants come through the ground. Insecticides are usually effective and a dust or spray of Sevin gives good results. If you prefer not to use pesticides, you can protect gourd plants by planting insect repellent plants such as marigolds or radishes nearby.
